I know it's early in the season still, but can you recommend any good/fun xc races in or around denver & ft collins in august? :D as you can see, I'm anxiously anticipating this trip. :rolleyes:

thanks

Thank you very much for the reply. I had already sent my entry form for that one, (and probably should've disclosed the info on my post); but I was wondering, in case I don't win a lottery spot... are there any other races in the area to attend?

Winter Park?

I'm not a racer (nor do I play one on TV) but doesn't Winter Park have some races during the summer? Suggesting Leadville 100 and Montezuma's Revenge would seem as if the guy requested suggestions for the toughest races imaginable.

Looks like the WP schedule is not up yet. In my opinion, the WP races are among the most fun and well run races I've hit in CO. Good people, schwag, and fun trails.

Great thing about CO, if you're a racer, there's plenty of XC (and other) races, big and small. Winter Park, MSC and Warriors all have race season going on, not sure about the dates. Check 'em out for yourself.

And 24 hr races, if that's your bag:

So many options :thumbsup:

You're going for Leadville so I'll throw out a couple of more endurance type events, KTR is self-supported, VT125 is a possible race in 2007 and LE is super fun (the LE web site appears to be down right now);

KTR: http://kokopellitrailrace.blogspot.com/
Vapor Trail: http://vaportrail125.com/
Laramie Enduro: http://www.laramieenduro.org/

And I don't think these were mentioned;
Short track series in Boulder: http://www.boulderracing.com/index.asp

rocky mountain sports puts out a (free) "keeper" issue in february which attempts to list all of the MTB events for the upcoming year...

kinda handy.

edit: oops... you appear to be in TX. maybe keep an eye on http://www.rockymountainsports.com/

Ed, Rich has a new webmaster, and he is working on replacing the site right now. If anyone needs Laramie Enduro info for 2007, it is July 28th this year, same course, the course map can still be found on my website linked below, from the Laramie Enduro page.

And still working with the promoters on the rest of 2007 RMU schedule, we'll post something when it's finalized.

Cheers,

Dave

An August Race

... which used to be held in July. Warriors Cycling in conjunction with MSC will be doing another Eldora Escape on August 18-19 this year, a bit later in the year than the previous July timeframes. The Warriors site is not updated yet, but this race is listed on the MSC website since this is one in that series.

No RMU schedule for 2007 yet, but the already scheduled Laramie Enduro would be included in that series, it's July 28th this year, the weekend after the Breckenridge 100, which is July 21st this year.

The 24-Hours of Steamboat is also slated for inclusion in a 2007 RMU series. That's June 9-10.

Other 2007 race dates in the works, more as they develop.

See you at the races,

Dave

Great links!

I'm going over some of the great links you've provided! great stuff. I'm in west TX all right, so for me it's easier to follow the NM series.

Because I'm meeting family and friends in CO, I'll have time to do Leadville (hopefully) and maybe another one if oh! so lucky.

:cool:
