Hey guys. I've been hanging on this forum for a bit as I just purchased my first 29er and, well, the upgrade bug has finally hit me. You guts on this forum are brillia nt when comes to bikes so I was hoping for a good suggestion on my first small upgrade. The bike is a bone stock GF rumblefish one aside from my candy sl's.

wheelset, oh wait a minute...you said small upgrade, perhaps a tubeless kit for the wheels you have.
So in the short time you've managed to wear out or break something then? if not, then ride it until something wears out or breaks, 'cause ti sure looks like a decent spec to me :skep: That's my advice, unless there's something on there that really bugs you in how it performs, then maybe upgrade that part.

Only thing I consider worthy of immediate upgrade/change on a new complete bike is the saddle/grips/pedals as these are contact points and very personal preference items.
If nothing has worn or broken, the only thing that would make sense to upgrade would be the wheelset. This is typically where the majority of weight savings and rider choices make the most sense. That said, it's no small upgrade.

Ride your bike as is and save the upgrade-itis and funds until it makes sense to upgrade your wheelset.

However, sometimes we just gotta upgrade!!
Thanks for info. Considering tubeless setup also grips (I hate the stock ones) maybe ergos.
Skip the money on the ergo's and take a look at the sette's on price point or you can find the specialized version on clearance. Same feel, just cheaper! Get the lock ons though. And go tubeless asap!
Yeah I think tubeless will be first. What needs to ne changed? I don't use my same tires do I? What's the cost of such an upgrade? What happens in the event of a puncture?
First upgrade is a huge battle scar on the down tube from a nasty trail.
Then I'd do the interfaces as above mentioned, I'm partial to my Terry saddle and esi grips standing on some egg beaters..
Another killer cheap upgrade is to go to a larger brake rotor size, better modulation and it looks sick with pie plates in each wheel...
Depending on your wheelset it could be as easy as rimstrips and some stans no tubes. Worst case, you could always go ghetto tubeless. Just google search either of those terms...

stans kit seems to work pretty well.
