I checked out Sugarload once. It's better for hiking/trail running than biking. Bikes not allowed on single track. There is a dirt (mostly- part of it is paved) road loop you can ride up to the summit and down the other side. Very steep! The view at the top is incredible. If you approach the summit from the north, it's very steep. If you approach it from the south, it's very very steep, with a stretch of loose tennis-ball sized rocks, the passage thru which left me bleeding. I remember talking to my bike that night, as I recalled falling in the rocks: "You did well today", I said, as I patted its top tube. "Too bad I can't say the same for me". What was I talking about? Oh, yes, Sugarloaf- beautiful location and views, but not a great place to ride more than once. Just 5-10 minutes from Sugarloaf, on Lawndale Road, is the south entrance to Annadel State Park, where the riding is most excellent, and there's lots of it.

I agree with the above. Sugarloaf isn't that great for biking, especiall since Annadel is practically across Hwy 12. You could ride from your campground to Annadel. Annadel rocks.

Pay G-funk no mind, Carl

Annadel Sucks!!! Sugarloaf Kicks A$$!!!! These other guys are crazy and are just trying to keep the masses off of all the ripping sugarloaf singletrack!!!!!!!!!!
Pay G-funk no mind, Carl. He's just a lonely, disturbed youth who puts up a tough front. Whenever no one is looking, he curls up into the fetal position, inserts his thumb in his mouth, and rocks to and fro, drooling and babbling incoherently. Right in the middle of the trail, even!
