Stumpy or Caldera - Caldera or Stumpy

Looking to buy a new hardtail. My last GT avalanche was stolen...bastards. I liked the fit but am looking to get a new bike.

I tested a rockhopper and liked it alot. But I don't like how they are cheap on the forks and components. So... for a bit more the STumpy is a good option. Also may be able to get a deal on a Kona Caldera.

need to make a decision. +/- 1000 is what I am willing to spend.
Any experienced Riders out there who have been on either bike???

I am a 6.2" weekend warrior (easy on the warrior)...

A friend of mine just had the same decision to make and he went with the Kona. He said that the deciding factor was the geometry/feel of the Kona. Either way I think both are great choices.
