I'm in the market for a new bike and I've seen a few Stumpjumpers that I like. Right now I'm looking at a 2018 Men's Stumpjumper Comp Alloy 29. It looks like this model is very similar to the current model Men's Stumpjumper Comp Alloy 29 - 12-Speed. Can anyone tell me if the only differences are the drivetrain and the color? The 2018 I'm looking at comes with a Shimano SLX 11 speed drivetrain and the current model comes with a SRAM NX Eagle 12 speed.

I have the Shimano component version, very nice bike for the $, albeit heavy. It climbs well though and rips the down. I have never owned much SRAM stuff, but stick with what I know and trust. From what I have read, the SLX stuff trumps SRAM NX. That and color appears to be the main difference and the Shimano version MSRP is less, which makes it even more appealing.

Not sure on this one but the freewheel hub could be different on the back. If so then the shimano one might be better because dt swiss hubs come standard with 18t of engagement in the freewheel, so it takes some time to start pedalling after coasting. I would still pick the drivetrain that you like better though.
