Stuck Shifter - Sram, help me please

OK. This shifter was working perfect before it went onto a new bike. I recabled it with new housing. Now I am only getting the first index, which does nothing btw. Then the shifter locks. I will try to reset the cable as it is my first guess of where the issue lies. Other than that, I have no clue.
Sram Attack 2008 rear 8sp shifter. Almost new.

Thanks

Not sure about SRAM but on Shimano you need to have the shifter in the cable's normally slack position when you install the cable, or you're going to get something like you describe (depending where your shifter was in it's indexing).
thanks man. i am pretty sure that I had dropped the shifter down before the install but that is the first thing I'm going to check. i'll let you know if that was the case.
the cable wasn't seated when I opend up the pod. not sure how the hell that happened but the cable was tweeked inside the pod and just needed to be straightened. problem solved.
