Olde LX or XT square taper bb. Specialized Rockhopper vintage '90? Owner claims the BB was removed 5 years ago but I doubt it...this motha is stuck. Using Park BBT-2.

Ideas?

The BB is toast and I just can't budge the bloody cups...

Use a longer lever arm, put a piece of pipe or an old seatpost or something similar over the end of your wrench to get you more leverage. Be sure to loosen the drive side cup clockwise...

soak it with liquid wrench (or similar lube), from the seattube... might need to repeat a few days in a row. maybe even heat up a bit with a propane torch to help the BB expand a bit.

more leverage is always good, BB tool in vise using bike as leverage to twist, or a cheater pipe.
depending on the type of BB tool you've got, you may be able to use a QR to help hold it onto the BB, to avoid stripping tool &/or BB cups.

there's some more good info, check out the search function... I tink on either tooltime or drivetrain.

good luck! I had to do the above, with multiple times heating/cooling cycles and wd-40 type of stuff, then using a good length of pipe on the BB tool for leverage.
