Stroke vs final travel.

Hoping to gain some insight into the benefits/drawbacks of different travel amounts using the same size shock strokes.

Example; The Revel Ranger, Ibis Ripley and Stumpjumper all use the 190x45 shock size.

But travel between those bikes ranges from 115mm to 130mm.

So, does a Stumpjumper have to give something up performance wise for its linkage to get 130mm of travel out of 45mm of stroke?

Or does it really all just depend on the linkage?

2.56:1 (115mm) vs 2.89:1 (130mmm) leverage ratios.
Different shock tuning can compensate for the different ratios.
