Seeing as I was riding injured, I took the time to take a few photos on my first lap.

The track was under a few feet of snow until earlier this week when a mammoth clearing job was done by some dedicated snow angels.

The weather has changed to a thaw with some rain on the way, so the track is turning into a huge boghole, but in the meantime it's hard work grinding through the slush.

The mud was destroying drivetrains from the first lap. Good place to be on a single speed or Alfine.

Velobike - i spoke to you on my 2nd lap i think - or maybe my third anyway - after our little conversation i changed gear to 32:21 and things picked up for me !

Tough course - hardest puffer ive done yet !

currently got toxic stew brewing in the bath - lived in my stealth kit all weekend (thats right 24 hours in the same kit :S ) and its now rotten smelling - got a hole in the knee of my stealth lite trews as well where i hit a patch of slush on the dh of the fire road going as fast as i could and it was like getting a blow out - bike just fishtailed and threw me over the bars

Well done to all that kept going - the course got pretty lonely in the nighttime - had to resort to the "chav" function on my phone for company (that is mp3s on loudspeaker)
