i hate those MTX rims, i have one and it seems to flatpot or bend everytime i land. less than a couple months old and almost useless.....
what do you suggest then? something that is able to withstand huge mof***ing cases onto cement ledges and landing occasionally at 90'.

EDIT: that's 90 degrees, not feet, i just don't know how to type the symbol.

That's seriously ill. Is the stuff wrapped around your rear brake hose just to prevent cable rub?
nah, just to keep everything together and looking cleaner. its actually alot worse then cable rub haha, but i got like 6 frame saver patches there now so yeah should be fine.

as far as the MTX's go i love them. i havent really touched them at all since i built them. but i dont really weigh anything and the highest these guys have fallen from is like 5 or 6 feet. they get lots of lateral abuse though and have held up perfectly.

That cable wrap is actually a good idea! I got a crapload of cables in the front of my bike, I might look into that idea....

where did u get the bars and stem from i can get hooked up cheap form a dude here in VA who works for them and how much did u spend on the pike?
i got it straight from SIC. im assuming the guy your talking about is peter. hes an awesome guy and should hook you up if you tlak to him at all. they're awesome to deal with in general and their parts are amazing too. especially for us here in VA i ordered my stuff and it was here the next day. the pike i got at cost cause i work at a shop here in arlington, which i wont tell you what is, but you can pm if you really wanna know or need a hand with anything.

as far as single speed goes, ive thought about it some and decided its more hassle then its worth. i ride a fair amount of trials and stuff on this thing too and like to have the versitility of gears.

the XT cranks are awesome, ive never felt them flex at all. as ive stated before i dont weigh a whole lot (145 usually) but yeah i love them i may put em on my DH bike for next season too. external bb systems are the way to go definitely.
