Hi,

I'm thinking about painting my bike, but I don't want to add any extra weight to the total weight of the bike.

So, is there a light weight paint that I can use or do I have to strip the old paint down to the metal?

If I do strip it, how do I determine the weight of the old paint so that I can match the new paint in order to not increase the total weight?

Also, what's the lightest color? I would imagine clearcoat, but was thinking about going with a darker shade of clearcoat.

Is the difference significant or negligable?

Finally, what time of the day would be best to paint it?

Thanks!

Cool!

Question, does the 12oz listed on the can mean the paint in the can?

Or does that include the weight "of" the can?

I want to know because if it's just the weight of the can, then I'll have to know how much the weight is.

That way, I won't "overspray" the bike with too much weight.

You know, I never thought about that.
Deficating before riding!
That's gotta be good for a pound or two, right?
Thanks for the rest of the suggestions!
I'm going to write them down and keep them in my back pack!

I already dumped the original reflectors and installed lighter ones.
I saved 1 gram each reflector.
That's a 5 gram savings right there alone!

Hrmmm,
the 12oz on the can is the volume not the weight.

I imagine that would have been quite uncomfortable. Did you lube first?

As something of an aside, have you considered naked hiking?

Don't forget to sand down the valve caps.

AND

If you haven't been circumcised, not withstanding you are a woman, Oy Gevald!

That'll save you a few unnecessary grams.

After that, if you haven't had your appendix out...
