sorry to hear that. Yeah, not much you can do except take your roof racks off and take them inside, which is a total PITA. The locks they use are made of cheese.
I feel violated. I wanna sell my car now:|
A dirt you cant wash off!

Karma will find its way back to them!

That they are. They pretty much shouln't even make them with the locks.
Their locks, like 90% of all locks, only keep the honest honest.
That sucks :(

My hitch rack has a locking pin through it. I guess they could grind it off if they really wanted to get it though....
hate thieves.
would that be covered under auto insurance?

I think it would be only if they specifically added it to the policy.

It would have to be under a homeowners or renters insurance.
Bite his freaking head off man!!

It depends on the auto policy (company). I used to write for Liberty Mutual and automaticaly included was $500 coverage for customizing equipment which is what a hitch or roof rack would fall under. Depending on what the deductable is on the policy it could be claimed under the comprehensive coverage and be subject to the deductable, but it would be better to just take the hit instead of claiming it because upon next re-newal of the policy the rate could go up.

Because it is equipment attached (bolted) to the vehicle (trailer hitch) it would fall under the auto policy.
It could be worse man, someone stole my brand new rockhopper in march, ran into my school library for not long at all and it was cut off the kevlar chain in broad daylight at a busy university.
