Hey folks, forgot to post this...

I already sent my comments representing all IMBA members in the area.

If you want to send additional comments, please feel free. We basically want to make sure we have access to some single track trails and we will help maintain those trails. You can also mention how friendly people really are when encountered on shared trails.

To Trails Council members,
Below is the notice that just went out regarding the Sterling Forest Draft Trails Plan.

Dear Interested Parties,
I am pleased to inform you that the Sterling Forest State Park Comprehensive Trails Plan and Environmental Assessment has been completed by New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission (PIPC) to address a range of trail issues in the Park. During the development of the Master Plan (2001), it was determined that trail issues would be best served if addressed within the scope of a comprehensive trails plan. Over the past several years, the OPRHP and PIPC worked cooperatively with a Study Group to assess and develop a trail system for the Park. The results and recommendations are presented in the Draft Trails Plan.
The document includes a Vision and Goals section, Inventory and Analysis of all trails, Trail System Alternatives, the Draft Plan, and an Environmental Review section. Trail uses in the Plan include single track and family hiking, biking, equestrian, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and interpretive trails. Efforts have been made to provide linkages to trail systems outside of the Park including the Appalachian Trail, Harriman State Park and trail systems located in New Jersey .
The Draft Plan is available on the OPRHP website at: http://www.nysparks.state.ny.us/news/publicdocuments/. The Agency will accept comments on this document until close of business December 5, 2008. The Agency intends to issue a negative declaration under SEQRA and adopt a final plan in December 2008.
