With the Cane Creek, it's the 5th year that I've been working on the Double Barrel, it's simply the most advanced shock on the planet with a range of adjustments that allow you to tune out any unwanted frequencies. The way it manages bump force is so efficient that you can give the rider the exact setting they are looking for. It's true that this shock takes a little getting used to as it works like no other, mainly there is very little pressure build up through its stroke. Also, making a static adjustment to compression or rebound and feeling that in the pit is not always possible, you have to test that adjustment on the track to evaluate it fully. It's the process you have to adopt with the DB, but the end result is well worth the effort.

Nice guy Dave but but I had a couple of jobs which were badly rushed as he jetted off to another world cup so im not quite as thumbs up as you tlr - off season is deffo the time to have stendec do their thing.

My 2nd gen CCDB was in Dave`s hands too few week ago. Asked full maintenance and some tuning for beginning stroke action and result was fine - he called me when getting shock and again just when shipping it back. Nice improvement, although testing has been quite soft (almost too cold outside...)

I wonder what changed with Stendec. I used them when they started and experienced the worst service I ever had in the bike industry.
Serviced a set of boxxers for me that simply did not work when I got them back.
Sent them to TF tuned 1 ride later and found out he had rebuilt the fork without the glide ring. When I phoned him to complain Dave Garland accused me of telling a lie.

A mate sent his marz shivers to him to for a service and got them back with the oil seals upside down so they leaked as soon as they compressed.

Perhaps things have got better but I would never trust that ****er with any of my suspension.

I guess they read the magic book on customer service.... And that customers keep a business operating....

Have heard more good news on them than bad...

Pedal strike less obvious now the initial shock stroke has been made more dynamic. However, a number of GS customers have backed up my pedal strike concerns. They run AM and FR.

It's the reason I'll be shifting the frame on or side lining it soon.

Shame that they are all long and low as like their build quality.

I've heard of one other complaint from a customer with an AM. However he did also say his shock is knackered so it could be due to that. He's also a very hard rider. I've got his frame here and at less than 1 year old you should see the state of it! Its been well used to say the least:D

However, he's sticking with nicolai as he loves his frame. May be trading it in for an FR, (purely as I have one available that's pretty much unused, not because he's unhappy with the AM) The FR has a higher bb than the AM so if pedal strikes an issue on that it will be
with any frame you buy!

Was talking to another turner 6-pack riding acquaintance of yours the other day. While you claim the 6-pack had a high bb and never suffered pedal strike, he had a monster off on his due to pedal strike and broke his shoulder! Pedal strike is a fact of life in mountain biking. Sometimes it's benign, sometimes it hurts. Either adapt and ride round it as best you can or take up road biking!

Not going to get in a pissing match on pedal strike on a suspension thread of yours, but it is not something that comes up with Nicolai posts except from you... My AM29er has the odd pedal strike, but it is not something that bothers me, it is part of riding, I adapt pretty quick, there are benefits in handling having things low....

Am shifting my Nucleon TFR & my Helius FR ;) ;) ;) Just need to pack them up & ship them... The stable is going through some lean treatment.... The AM29er has sorted me for a FR replacement in the 29er form, so all tickety boo.....

no other bike i've ever owned [there's been many] have suffered so badly, so frequently and so annoyingly....

but i have stayed with it, trying every incarnation to resolve the problem, resulting in the latest STENDEC tune....

it's a shame really that it's taken so much time and effort to try and fix...

please don't tell me it's not a problem as it's a complete PITA.

as for road biking, already got that covered for my commuting on the Tricross.

as for the 6 pack never striking, of course it did , albeit less frequently and less annoyingly....

even today at slower speeds in the pishing rain, the AM clunks and bashes it's way up tech ascents.....
