Restoring an older road bike with quill stem. Aluminum stem is stuck in steel steering tube. I got the wedging nut disengaged.. If I put a straight bar in the stem and hold the forks in my wood bench vise I can, with force, move the stem side to side (makes an awful screech) so i am assuming corrosion is the culprate. Same solutions as aluminium seatpost stuck in steel frame?

Flip the bike over and drive it out from the fork side of the steerer tube. Spray it down with some Tri-Flow or similiar.

I have with used PB Blaster with great success to unstick some heavily corroded parts. I used to do a little bit of exhaust work and it NEVER failed to free parts long corroded and heat cycled together. On some things you need ot let it soak overnight, but I would say almost without fail that it will unstick those parts.
