Hy guys. I have a problem with my MZ DJ3. The steering tube is to short ( 17 cm ). I was wondering if it can be changed. And if so, where can I buy the new steering tube? Or give me another solution. Thanks in advance!
P.S. : Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand what I want!

Outside of buying a new steerer/crown from the fork maker to replace the one that you have which has been cut too short for your needs, there is a service in Australia named Grip Sport that extends steerer tubes. You can find the service here.

17cm should be just enough for a medium sized frame with a short stack headset and a 32-34mm stack height stem. i went through the same issue after being told the steerer on my new fork was around 170mm. i measured everything and found that it would be the exact amount of space i could make work. steerer ended up being 178mm, but i still could have made it work.

Depending on how far off the mark you are....some FSA stems have a 35mm stack height (5mm less than standard). Pair that with a Crank Brothers Direct Set headset (20mm, which is roughly 10mm less than standard)) and you can save yourself 15mm.

I'm in the same situation with a new RockShox Pike 409. I digg it all around for info and what suited me better was a solution like Saturnine explained.

Steerer tube lenght is 170mm, I have a medium sized frame with a 110mm headtube lenght. Got a normal stack height stem (40mm) and a CrankBrothers Headset (22mm). So I got 172mm total lenght with an aditional 2-3mm spacer between headset and stem. I'm hoping that the 5mm aditional space will be close to the 3-5mm mark that is needed to tighten the stem (stem above steerer top).

I'm gonna build this setup only in June so I have a long time ahead till mount and solve the problem. After that my other option is to get a low stack height stem, but I'm hoping that won't be necessary.
