What’s the best steel frame available to build a all trail bike. I really like the Marin el roy frame but idk if I should get the whole bike or bluild it to make it my own I have to summer to get ready for trail riding winter here where I live so no mountains are open anymore ski season. Are there any other modern frames available? If so what brands and models

I don't think the El Roy would make for a good trail bike, it is really long and quite slack. The Canfield Nimble9 is an excellent trail bike.

Another vote for a nimble 9 here. Lots of similar bikes in the general geo, maybe look at Sirius as well?
You’re gonna need to be specific what geo and fork and use case you’re after to get better recommendations.

1+ for Nimble 9! Stanton bikes, pipedream Sirius, etc… Have a look at Hardtail Party Chanel on YouTube. Banshee Paradox is also a good choice even though it’s aluminium

RSD Middlechild is on par with the Nimble 9. I’ve had both and liked the Nimble 9 a little more, but both are great bikes.

Slam the chainstays for a playful ride or make em long for more stability at speed.
And you can single speed it

If you want a more stable “plough” bike with longer chainstays and a slightly more supple ride the Cotic SolarisMax is also a good choice.
As mentionned check out Hardtail party reviews, although he is a bit too positive about most bikes he’s pretty spot on with his impressions.
