I have been running 30t 104 / 64BCD alloy front rings since going 1x - Wolftooth, RaceFace, Blackspire. I will say if I don't keep really tight chains they wear out fast. I would like a NW oval steel but don't see any made. WT makes a nice SS 30t round but I still want oval. Opinions on steel?

I don't think they can make an oval 30t NW ring in 104, the bolt pattern is just too big with how the oval has to narrow up. The 32t is already very tight, 30t barely works as a circle. The SS Wolftooth rings are nice, but if you want a 30t you need different cranks. They do offer 30t oval SS in their Camo system. I don't know of one in 64 either.

absoluteBlack has a 30t oval that fits the 104BCD cranks, CRC has them on clearance now.
Steel - if you had different cranks you would have some options. DOn't know of any steel ovals though.
