here are some pics from our weekend trip to stanley. we rode fisher creek and elk mountain.

i know it's been said already, but the burn area is crazy. that entire area will probably look like this one day. sooo many dead trees from the pine beetle.

hope y'all enjoy the pics!

That is some major carnage. Looks like erosion will be a major problem for a while. I wonder how many of the trees will remain standing, and for how long. Part of the Boise foothills looked like that after a fire tore through 9 or so years ago, but the area has recovered fairly well. Lots of the dead burned trees are still standing. A few pics of that area in this thread (pics 2-4)...

I hope Fisher Creek recovers as nicely.

If you put some antlers on your dogs, they could pass for deer with their coloring.
We'll be up there next weekend. Glad we'll have some nice scenery to look at(JK). That's too bad that happened. We usually always do that ride and we'll proabably do it again even though it looks like that....
little basin

has anyone ridden little basin yet this season? we were all tired (yep, even the dogs), on sunday, so we just did elk mountain.

due to other vacations (boo hoo), it will be late july before i get a chance to get back up to stanley. but, little basin is a must do. and i'm going to clean that first steep climb this year. (it's probably perfect right now. it'll be super loose by late july).
great pictures.

I remember riding Fisher Creek before the fire. Man that was a sweet trail.

Oh well, suppose the trail itself is just as fun anyway.

Here's Little Basin from last week:

The first section of downhill through the meadows is clear, then the rest of the loop is like this.

In addition to Elk Mountain and Fisher/Williams, the Valley Creek / Knapp Creek loop (ATV track) has been cleared. I suspect that since the ATV folks have limited trails open to them, they have been clearing what they can.
