Switching standard 1 1/8 steerer tube fork from one bike to a bike with a Tapered Head Tube. What do I need? Obviously a new headset, but do I need some kind of reducer or a different crown race? Tried to search but couldn't find anything--if this has been discussed could someone attach a link.

I'd go with this:

You can use the 1 1/8 crown with it, and when you upgrade your fork to a tapered, all you need is the $10 1.5" crown to use the new fork.

Depends on the frame. Same deal though, just need to buy a different crown race if switching to a tapered steer tube fork later on....
