Since I will probably go rigid, I may need some extra cushion up front. Now, I'm riding on Hutchinson Python 2.0, but also have a set of 2.3 lying around. Can I have a staggered setup with 2.3 front and 2.0 rear, or am I better off running full 2.3?

I run a Rampage 2.35 up front and an Ignitor 2.1 in back - works great on my fully rigid. If I were going to hit Moab or something rougher, I might opt for the Rampages front and rear at lower pressures to add a little cushion, but for most stuff, this set up works fine and saves a little weight and rolling resistance too. Rolling resistance is a bigger issue on your back tire so a tighter tread and narrower tire makes a bigger difference there.
