This is barrel roll on 12/20/08. I would have had better luck with snow shoes. More then 70% was covvered by snow, up to six inches in places.

I have said this before but I will through it out there again.
With more rain on the way these trails will be slick and muddy for some time to come. Please do not ruin the trails by ridding on them when the clay is muddy.
Stick to Church Rocks, City Creek, Paradise Trail, Zen Trail, and the Race Coarse.
They hold water better then the clay trails like Stuki and Bear Paw.

Ditto to what gnriden said, and I would even add stay off the zen, barrels, and barrel rolls, they hold water ok but will still get messed up, definitely don't ride the loop, stucki, or JEM, thanks! BTW nice shots bro.

Kinda looks that way.

But thats not what I ment. When that snow melts it will be a mess as with all the trails mentioned.
If it would have been muddy I would have turned around, as I have done before. But thats kinda hard when your have drivin 400 miles. Most of the trail had about 4 to 6 inches on it and did no damage. The only part that was dry were the rock sections, I was able to ride the downhill sections because i could keep up the speed, on the snow. I pushed the rest of the way, it was mostly a hike with my bike.
I'm just warning people so they don't plan a trip next weekend to ride these trails, only to show up to mud, and end up ridding because they had driving so far.
More of a public service anouncment. Thats all.

I agree, when the trails are frozen it's ok, it's when they start to thaw it gets slimy. Oh and add broken mesa to the no no list.

Broken Mesa is on the no no list with or without snow. That trail is in horrible shape after the fires up there.

It's raining here again tonight, probably snow in the higher elevations.
I rode Church rocks on 12/20 same day as original poster and it was still in great shape.

A little off topic but for those of you that ride paradise canyon who is going around placing rocks to close off certain sections of the trail?? Both Sat and Sun there were rocks across sections that I've been riding since April. A little irritating at first but it forced me to ride a couple sections going uphill that I have always put on the downhill. Was like having a new trail!!

A little off topic but for those of you that ride paradise canyon who is going around placing rocks to close off certain sections of the trail?? Both Sat and Sun there were rocks across sections that I've been riding since April. A little irritating at first but it forced me to ride a couple sections going uphill that I have always put on the downhill. Was like having a new trail!!

The turtle huggers also fenced off my favorite on trail drop:madman: I went out there Wednesday last week and Tuesday this week and the sandy sections were cake:thumbsup: I came flying down one of the dh sections right off the start (from Castle Rock side) and hit some the new rocks across the trail pretty fast and pinched my rear:madmax: I understand the need for conservation but this is the original route!

With this cold weather the ground freezes and brings the moisture to the top. When it thaws in the afternoon it can get very muddy on the clay trails, basicaly all of the bear paw poppy trail system. Even if it hasn't rained in a while. But givin a week of sun the other trails should be good. Try Zen or Barrel Rolls. Church Rocks should be good regardless as well as the other "Red" trails.
