My rigid 29er SS was the fourth bike in my garage. A BLT, Nomad and geared 29er hard tail all preceeded it. Since its arrival I've all but ignored the others. Part of this is because in the winter the simplicity of the bike is much lower maintenance and performs much better in the conditions here. Part of this is because as soon as I rode the SS I was hitting PRs on almost every climb. Part of this is because trails that were almost boring are once again a challenge. There is also the almost silent ride quality which is really nice in the woods. The lighter weight is nice. The personal challenge of cleaning climbs you couldn't just two weeks ago is rewarding.
Anyone want to buy a Nomad? :)

I jumped in and bought a rigid 29r SS to force myself to learn how to ride differently. I was a cushed out 26" gear changing spinner. Now, I ride rigid 29r SS almost exclusively.
Sounds like the path I chose! I have a 26" Epiphany 1x9 but I wanted to really focus on racing this year. So I wanted to go minimalist and lightweight....only answer for me was SS!! I am stoked. Good luck with your build. Which route are you taking?
