Despite the perception of all flatlands--this area has some great trails. In fact, the best trails are a few hours south in northern Arkansas (see IMBA Epic rides). Check out earthriders.com for description of local trails.

I run a 34 up front and keep a 18,20, and 21 in my toolbox.

Where are you coming from?

The three primary trails around Lawrence:

- River Trails. Two gear teeth harder than 2:1. Flowing, level trails that you'll spin out of with a 2:1.

- Perry Lake. 2:1 is a great gear ratio for Perry's rolling, rocky trails along the shore's of Perry Lake.

- Clinton Lake. 2:1 or one gear tooth easier than 2:1 due to the rocks and the tight turns in the trail that makes carrying your mo harder than the other two trails in the area.

My 2¢.
