I posted this on the drivetrain thread but I want more input.

I need a new chain and cassette. Will the
SRAM 9.0 PG-990 AL CASSETTE 9s & PC-991 CHAIN New 2006
work fiine on my Santa Cruz Superlight?

Any other suggestions? It is shimano now.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. To answer the basic question, yes, that combination should work, as it should work on any mountain bike with a 9 speed drive train. If compatibility is the issue, then you should be fine. If the issue is one of how the SRAM components will compare to the Shimano components you are replacing, then more information is needed. Specifically, what Shimano cassette and chain will you be replacing? This will help people to give you there personal experience.
