I had to take my shifter apart today and when I was done, I bumped the trigger, shooting the big coiled spring out of it. I can't figure out how to put it back together. Is this something that can be fixed by the right person (LBS, will call tomorrow) or do I need to buy a whole new shifter?

I'm really trying to learn bike maintenance on my own, and this was a step backwards unfortunately.

Well, I can't say how many times I've had to struggle with that damn spring. Here is a fantastic walkthrough of the X9 shifter, there's some similarity between them and I hope it might help you figure out what you need to know.

If not, we're going to need some pictures
