SRAM/Shimano set up question

Why do specialized bikes that come with full SRAM set-ups, still have Shimano front derailleurs? I know...a little random, but I noticed it on my stumpjumper and then checked out the Specialized website and that is how they set up a lot of their bikes...why not SRAM front derailleur also?

Because because because because because.....

Because of the wonderful things it does?

I think Shimano ones work better

Easy. SRAM have never produced an X.0 front derailleur.

Until now.

Now the new 9-or-10 speed X.0 groupset comes with front derailleur nirvana (probably 6 different options IIRC). I think you will see the new Specialized bikes spec'ed with complete X.0 10-speed for the XC bikes. From the Bikeradar review, the new X.0 seems to be 99% of XX in functionality, only slightly heavier, and without the cost. My next upgrade in other words....
Historically, SRAM front mechs have been shite.
