SRAM flat mount rear caliper options

916 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  p0is0n0ak
I have a Turner Nitrous that came with SRAM Level TLM levers, running a Level TLM caliper on the front and an Apex flat mount caliper on the rear. I tried metallic pads but still couldn't get the power I wanted so I replaced the front brake with Code RSC lever and caliper. It's now good, but a little overmatched for the Apex caliper on the rear.

Is there a better SRAM flat mount rear caliper than the Apex, or would they all work about the same? Likewise, would I see an improvement replacing the Level TLM lever with a Code RSC lever if I kept the Apex caliper?

Is there room to adapt to post mount?
Great question. Didn't realize it might be that easy.

Maybe even easier than that… when they're in stock, that is.

In my discussions with SRAM you can Not use a Guide lever with a Level/Apex/Force/Red etc caliper. They have different ratios between lever and caliper. The Apex caliper has the same size pads and works the same as a Level caliper, just different mounting style. If you need more power try a 180 rotor and an adapter. I would be surprised if this does not lock up the rear wheel at will.
