Will the new SRAM GXP bottom bracket work with a 68mm BB shell?

Also, will my XTR M960 cranx fit?

Yes, the GXP bottom bracket comes with 2 optional spacers, so it fits both 68mm or 73mm shells. From memory, the spacers are required for 68mm shells, but not for 73mm shells.

No, The GXP bottom-bracket is proprietary, therefore it only works with outboard cranksets made by SRAM and Truvativ.

Your XTR crankset won't fit a GXP bottom-bracket. Therefore you'll need any outboard bottom-bracket made by Shimano, FSA or Crank Brothers, since they're all more-or-less interchangeable, and they'll all take XTR cranks as I understand it. Incidentally, I'm pretty sure most of those BBs that I mentioned also ship with 2 optional spacers, enabling them to work in 68mm and 73mm shells too.
