here's an interesting one - i feel like the clutch system on the AXS does not put as much tension as the mechanical derailleurs. Chain slap is significantly louder.
That's interesting as I run XTR 12 and ride with a couple guys on AXS. It is still Eagle, still has all the same issues Eagle has. If it is in perfect tune, it shifts fine, but not as well as XTR. And XTR seems to have much more margin of error until it shifts as bad as Eagle.
Yes, AXS masks it as best as possible because the shift is completed much more quickly than with mechanical, but it is still the same Eagle cassette and chain and has the same quirks.
You need to do yourself a favour and at least try AXS.
It's a whole new level of shifting. Flawless but also the shifting itself - just light taps on the paddle - are a game changer. Hold it down and you can have 2, 3 or continuous smooth shifting.
Not to mention the wireless, clean, uber simple wireless set up.
Nothing like it. I realize "game changer" has become cliche but, sorry, it is a game changer.
