I've got a 2017 Insurgent and I've been able to confirm that a persistent squeak I hear anytime the suspension is compressed is coming from the upper chain guide supplied with the frame. Removing it 100% eliminates the noise, so it's definitely that.

Anyway, I put some polyurethane frame protection tape on the frame behind the guide and that worked to eliminate the noise for a full ride. But by the second ride the squeak was back. Bolts are tight. I'm not sure what to do.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

every evil i had squeaked at the der hanger, you sure it isnt that? Just drip soem chain lube on it may solve your problem.

My insurgent was the same way. I removed the chain guide and trimmed the inside plate of the guide a bit. I left the lower portion where the chain rides and removed plastic that touches the pivot.

Clean it and add a little grease...this common noise on most evils.

Is the chain guide needed? With a narrow wide and a clutch derailleur I'm not sure I remember ever dropping the chain

Chain guides are unnecessary on 1x drivetrains.
