Today we found a few nice places to ride in the Nashville Tract. We chatted with an elderly couple hiking who used to own a farm in the area. They were thrilled to learn about the development of the trail network and they shared some interesting history about the area.

Unfrozen pond

Crossing the bowstring bridge

Checking out the old dairy farm

We heard the birds chirping all day and nearby we found the bees!

Ground is still frozen

Great pictures, cyclelicious. I love checking out old ruins. Also very cool that you got to learn some local history right from the people who experienced it.
Thanks VV! The retired farmer had awesome stories! He even shed some "light" on a local urban legend about a landmark that is still called Gallows Hill which is located in the Nashville Tract. And he told us about the old hardware store that his family owed in Kleinburg.

Yesterday we rode the ridge in the Don... today we kept it local.

This time of year...the landscape looks subdued.

But on closer inspection we found some early vibrancy: Wild leeks :)

Top of the valley:dry

Middle valley: dry to spongy

Our home garden is showing colour!

Fun day with friends riding the lower Humber River

Crossing the Humber River

Visited historical Lambton House

Salmon were jumping! We counted 6 weirs along our path. The last one had a fish ladder

Were the fish biting?

Interesting study re weirs and consideration to remove

Weather was beautiful on saturday. After the trail work in the Don We headed to Cycle Solution to pick up singlesprocket's new bike. Saturday evening we went for a local ride along the Humber River

Fiddleheads were poking up

We picked some and later had them for dinner

Spring apples and sun was setting

Singlesprocket's Covert is also a good climber for a long travel bike :)
