Spring in the Marin Headlands....

i did about 19 miles in the headlands yesterday late morning, and it was really a spring day! warm, sunny with tons of people around and lots of birds and other critters. the trails were pretty wet/muddy in those spots that hold water, but the major fireroads were in great shape as they always are in the headlands. lots of construction going on in the park, including for some unknown reason the repaving of the bridge parking lot where i normally start from..anyway, here are some scenic shots from the day. sorry, no action photos as i was riding by myself.

1. lots of wildflowers...
2. california poppies starting to come out
3. egret fishing
4. not sure what kind of hawk this was, just gliding on the air currents

Nice pics. That'd be a red-shouldered hawk.

thanks, i always have trouble figuring out red tailed vs red shouldered, at least from a distance. there was evidently a cooper's hawk around but i did not see it. bummer i only had my canon g12 with me instead of my big nikon lens!
