What's a good grease to use if Judy Butter or Slick Honey is not available? I used Phil's, but don't know if I think that was the right thing to do. I am likely going to put my firm spring back in, so that's a good time to regrease it.

i would think almost any type of grease is fine. all the grease basically does is protect the metal and keeping down the noise of the spring banging around in teh leg. and for the pike just be sure to lube up hte uturn assembly down at the bottom.

I've used both Phil's and some Manitou M-Prep on mine, and couldn't tell any sort of difference at all. It doesn't really take all that much on it in any case. I just made sure to slather up the U-Turn section of the coil stuff pretty well to keep it from sticking.

I used Park Tool's general purpose green grease that comes in a tub.
No problem in over a year.

Thanks guys. I have both Phil's and Park, so when I swap back to the firm I will grease up the u-turn real well.
