i havent ridden the spitfire.
but i own a rune and know the sc blur 4x pretty well.
my opinion is that the design of the blur 4x is a bit outdated compared to the spitfire.
the suspension ist comparable (also a little bit of pedal feedback on the sc b4x) but the geometry is more oldschool...
when you stick in a pike in the blur 4x, it rides nicely on singletrails etc, but it is not really slack enough if you really want to put it into rougher stuff...
and up the hill, it is just too slack in the seatangle, so you HAVE to have a fork that can be traveled to go uphill...
personally, i wouldnt hesitate a second and choose the spitfire (after all, it cant be so much different from the rune with works angle reducers)

I owned a Blur 4x for 2 seasons, and currently ride a Spitfire. In short, I would say that the Spitfire takes the good things about the 4x (low, slack, etc.) and improved on the things it lacked (pedal characteristics, weight, seat tube angle, pivot lifespan/ease of maintenance).

Given the option between the 2, I prefer the Banshee.

For the record: I have about 100 rides on my Spitfire so far, and live in Squamish, BC.

I had a blur4x for about 3 years and it was my favorite bike ever until I got my spitfire. I had another very well regarded trail bike between the blur and the spity and I always the second I got on the spitfire I felt comfortable and like I was back on a bike that is right for me. I agree w/ Joel about the spitfire being a more evolved version of the blur. Don't get me wrong I think the blur is a fantastic bike deserving of it's cult status but the spitfire is stiffer, lighter, lower maintenance with all the ridiculous fun factor of the blur.

I hate to bring up an old thread, but I picked up a 4x a couple months ago but since then I have discovered the spitfire, can anyone else comment on these 2 bikes and if I would notice a large difference that would justify spending about 500 additional dollars on a spitfire frame. ( also on a side note, how do these two models compare to the new stumpjumper, that frame set up looks pretty nice as well.)

thanks for any help
