Spindle length - Commencal Ramones 20"

Just picked up a used Commencal Ramones 20" for one of my sons. I'd lake to swap the crank and bottom bracket.

Frame: 73mm BB shell
BB: cage bearing, square taper, 130mm spindle

I'm swapping to a 127mm crank(also square taper) and want to replace the BB with a inexpensive sealed bearing unit. With the 127mm crank on the orig BB (130mm spindle) there is about 15-20mm between the crank arms and chain stays.

In researching what Shimano and others offer I can't find a sealed BB for 73mm shell with 130mm spindle. My question is, given the amount of clearance between the crank arm what length spindle should I use? How short can I go without interference with the chain stays?

The bike will be set 1*9 or 1*10

Thanks in advance

Based on what you are describing in having 15-20mm clearance with a 130mm spindle, I don't see any reason you couldn't go with the narrowest Shimano BB-UN300 at 73x113. Cambria Bike and others have them for under $20.

Did you figure this out? I just got the same bike for my daughter and the cranks are waay to long for her.

You may have already found a solution. I ended up swapping out the crank for a set from Prevelo. Mine predate the Heir model shown on the website but they look very similar
I found set from Alibaba. Goldix. Had a bb and crankset for $50. Seems to be working great so far.
