Anyone going to start this? i'd love to see some pics of the Spider 2's built up...

I have a Tracer VP, but am looking at a long term replacement for my Yeti ASR-SL, and the Spider 2 fits the bill...

cheers.

Hi Fatwheel. Just got a Spider 2 frame. Just curious how you plan to build yours up, with particular interest to the fork and wheels. I'm considering some ZTR 355 laced to Hopes, or possibly an XT wheelset (although they're a little heavier than I'd like). Let me know what you're thinking about your future build.

Hi, it would be old bits off the yeti no doubt...mavix xc717 rims with dt spokes on hope pro 2 rims with mono minis...xt/sram drivetrain, thomson bits and a new fork and larger seatpost...oh, and king headet or hope...

bel air saddle, too...

forks? hmm, i aint seen any reviews yet of the Spider 2 - Steber reckons it can handle 140 forks, although i was thinking 120mm...try sending him a pm if you're in doubt re: fork length...he's super busy, but may reply if he has a spare moment...saying that, somewhere on here he may have already said something on fork length...

cheers...

p.s. how you getting on on your 575? I never got on with one personally, compared to the Tracer...
Not built up yet, but gettin' there! :)

Medium works

XT drive train, Magura Marta, Mavic St, Conti mntn king 2.4 front and back. King, thomson, WTB saddle, ergon gx1 grips, float 140 RLC 15mm.

Bike is really nice. I'm digging the new VPP.

Well, the only parts I'm waiting for are my wheels from Chainreaction. They ran out of 819's the day before I placed my order, so I have no idea when they'll arrive. It's driving me crazy looking at this gorgeous raw frame without being able to ride it! If anyone has some new pics, please post.

EDIT: Btw, have any of you tried or heard much about the XT M775 rims like the one they have on the Spider 2 on the Intense website? Found some for about $300 shipped. Tempting. Any thoughts?
Velez: How do you like the 140 on there, especially on climbs? Are you glad you went that route?

MavAndy: I see you have a Float at 120. I'm guessing it was internally adjusted from 140 to 120, correct? What do you think?
140's nice

Super glad I went with the 140. The bike feels really stable and doesn't chopper out the steering at all. The bike crushes stuff and is still snappy enough on climbs etc. that you'll want to use it for tamer xc stuff as well
I agree with velez3000 on the 140mm fork. I'm running the same 140mm vanilla rlc from my 5.5 on my Spider 2 and find it a great match. Unless you're strictly going weight-weenie XC, the 140mm length is just fine.
some pics

version 2.0 ...3.0 to follow? Color scheme is pretty standard, as I was incorporating parts I already have. Been thinking of something crazy, like powdercoating the frame a different color -metallic orange? Bronze brown?? Gloss black?

Nice - your bike looks really good!!!

How's the rear end flex on the Spider 2? I recently built an Uzzi and there's a bit more flex than I expected, so I'm wondering how it would be on the Spider.
Thanks! I haven't noticed any more flex than what was on my 5.5, and the rear triangle of the 5.5 has a burlier rear triangle. It actually "feels" more solid, but I'm attributing that impression on the second gen VPP and the fact that it's a new frame?
awai04 what size is your Spider 2? It looks really cool. I'm plannin on migrating the parts on my old 5.5 to a Spider 2. How do you like the position of the bars with the 140 fork?
Size small....The 140mm fork works just fine with the Spider. It's what I had on my 5.5 (minus a 4mm Ventana race), and I'm able to climb up all the same obstacles & hills, if not more.
Those are some sweet Spider 2's. You boys that have meds, could you do me a favor and measure your actual TT length? And what are you total weights? Thanks, boys.
Just had the fork and crankset thrown on today. Hope to have it done by the end of next week.

I know that I've said I'd not buy Intense again due to the appalling paint on my 5.5. BUT.
I need one of those and soon. As much as I've tried not to like them, the Tracer and Spider 2 are two of the best bikes on the market. Would I be able to get a Spider or Tracer with the decals without the red trim in the UK? Are those decals sold seperately?
I'm thinking my black TALAS QR15s would be magic on one of those....
You can buy decals for almost any Intense frame on ebay (i.e. Nick Serrano at Saddletime Sports). They don't come cheap ($40 US), but they *are* available. For a more stealthy look, I changed my logos to a grey border instead of red.

The raw frame is nice -no paint to scratch, and almost 2 oz. lighter? ;)
