Specialized Terra CLX vs CL Wheelset......

Anyone have comparable reviews/opinions? The CLX are $1100 more and you get DT Aerolite and guessing an either 240 or 180 EXP hub. The 350 is still pretty bomber but just a tad heavier. Is CLX worth it?? Thx

Crazy that no one has ridden these wheels!!
No one can tell you if an upgrade is worth it, but I paid about the same as the CL for a 250g lighter and way more aero wheelset.

Any hints what the wheelset is?
I don't know about now, but the DT 240 had better bearings than 350.
It's a custom build. Light Bicycle 32mm wide 40f/50r mm deep rims, DT 180s (Bike-discount.de is where they're affordable), Berd spokes. 1240g and I think I paid 1700ish after tax.

The CL is still a helluva deal though. A lot of the DT Swiss 350 or 240 weight comes from the bearings/machining, so if you put the same bearings from a 180 into a 240 the weights would be similar*

*hub weight is a worthless number and only important when you're bragging on the internet about how light your wheels are.

EDIT- I forgot the weight and had it wrong. They're 1240g not 1140g.
Poor post-sale experience with Specialized has kept me away from them and maybe that's not fair. Great post-sale experience with Trek, the warranty, price, and production brought back to US caught my attention so I got Bontrager Aeolus V wheels and am super happy. I couldn't imagine getting much more out of spending more for my skills. The purchase also made my Moots frame more affordable if there's such a thing.

In all my shopping in these times of shortages I also found Trek had decent availability. Spending more seemed crazy to me. Fancy stuff is always diminishing returns as you spend. A 7.4 pounds lighter bike isn't doing crap compared to a more comfy and better fitting bike.

Gravel riding means a lot to different people but I also travel enough single track and really bad roads where I didn't want to go into ridiculous light weight.

I have CLXs through warranty. If I had to buy them I would pick the CLs. I have had both CLX32 and CL32 wheels on the road bike and could not tell the difference.
It depends on where you ride but an aero wheel for gravel/offroad use doesn't make sense. Just my $.02...

I have the CLs. They are rad. Bombproof wheel, stay true and are hooked. I’ve run both pathfinder pros and Roubaix tires. Fast, compliant wheel set. Hard to imagine the extra $1100 would get me anything material. Would buy the same wheel set if I were to do it again.
