My son has a Specialized Rockhopper 2021 Comp bike and complains that he doesn't have enough gears for climbing.
The Comp model came with Advent MicroSHIFT’s 1x9 drivetrain (11-42T).
He doesn't want to spend to change the whole drivetrain and start again.
Advent have a 9 speed 11-46T (CS-H093) cassette and also a 10 speed 11-48T (CS-G104).
Can he get away with just changing the cassette be able to stick with his current chain, derailleur, shifter etc..
Will 11-46T be enough to fix his issue? Or being a 9 speed limits him to big gaps between gears?
Will the 10 speed 11-48T fit on his current bike and setup without modifications and be a better option if he has a choice between the 11-46 or 11-48?
