My rear hub on my 2008 SJ FSR pro carbon - DT Swiss 4.2 wheels - is sounding rough. It's a DT Swiss / Specialized custom hub. Does anyone know what sort of maintenance this hub should have? Is it cartridge or bearings? Is there a quick fix or should I replace?

Thanks mtnbiker72.

Gulp. All those specialist tools needed (which I don't have).

If I send it to a DT Swiss service centre any idea what they will charge?
You need the tools to replace the drive side hub bearing (not the FH bearings), if it's rough then I would check with you local LBS's to see if one of them have the proper tools (they should). That bearing is pretty protected so it tends to last longer than the outer non-drive and FH bearings. The other three can be service at home with just basic tools. Servicing the star ratchet takes no tools.
