Two reasons. The first is a double keyway design w/ tight tolerances. The second is the collet itself, which when cable tension is released expands into it's slot and applies outward pressure, thereby helping it to be so slop free.

About two months on the CP so far and there is nearly zero play, about 1 mm or so, at the nose of the seat.

is there a simple fix to the loss of air pressure with out giveing up my post ?
There is a very long thread on the Command Post in the Specialized forum, I think its only a few topics down from the top. I'd head over there and troll though it to see if you can find any info, or at least ask there (I think a Spec. engineer hangs out in there).

Other than that try replacing the valve core as a starter just incase its something simple.
