There are many clipless:)confused: which is improper usage of word... anyway) pedals
Some company like shimano and welgo makes similar:)skep:maybe same) clipless pedals which is fixed by fore-fixed componet and rear-tension component. And speedplay makes disk-like clipless pedals.

I think shimano and welgo's clipless pedal copied onza ho(1993) pedal except that they use the springs. So can't imagine that the shimano clipless pedals have patent... Who has the shimano clipless pedals' patent?

Slightly off topic question. Anybody has some good experience with SPD compatible pedals? I typically used Shimanu XT and it did not last too long - would like to try somehting different. Or maybe is 8000 miles too much on pedals? Nothing extreme however.
