Dude, I was thinking about hitting this this Sunday weather permitting, but my few riding partners are busy this weekend. I live in DC but was contemplating driving down Saturday night, dirtbagging it in the parking lot, and riding the next morning. My fiancee's outta town and I wanted to hit something new and challenging, given a little more time than I would normally have.

I think that if it doesn't precip, this ride would be good. It will be colder than a witch's tit up high. I don't know if the sunshine has melted all snow / ice up high in exposed areas. I called the forest service, and they say that it is almost totally snow free on the northern sections (nearer the Confederate Breastworks).

My thought was to drive down, and check it out. If it is totally snowed in or something up high, I was just gonna head further south to Douthat to do some riding.

If you wanna give it a go and would like a partner, shoot me an email at janowiak dot jared at gmail dot com.

If you do decide to try Douthat you may want to check on the conditions. I was just down in Pocahontas County WV (Not too far from Douthat VA) over the weekend and into early this week and there was at least three inches of snow, hard and crunchy with a frozen layer of rain on top, up high. Was like trying to walk on a sled run. May be some at Douthat too. Just a heads up.

Yeah, an inquiry with rangers indicated there might be some of that up high. Plus there's more dumping in the forecast (the forecast was clear when I wrote my earlier reply), so that's probably not the ride to do this weekend.
