Hi all, yes another knee thread.
First I'll say I'm going to get specialist help -and soon, though as they say fore-warned is fore-armed. (Is that how it goes?)
My problem is only in my left knee, the right is fine. I've had a professional bike fit applied to all my bikes
I've had a 'clicky' left knee for some time, with no pain involved at all. If I'm standing and lift my left leg 90 degrees up behind me and let it fall there is a snapping/clicking sound. I can't really feel anything with my fingers as I do this.
Lately I've experienced some pain around the kneecap, a little hard to define exactly where. It mostly happens when I go to sit down and at that point with bent knees where you pass the point of balance there is a little flare of pain. Also as I stand it is there again.
I've come to the conclusion after searching many threads that it's chrondromalacia or something to do with ITB.
Thoughts appreciated.

Edit: No pain while riding except the usual amount. I do around 2 rides a week of 30-40km, sometimes ss.

I thought mine was ITB for awhile, too. I was couch-ridden after two summers of injury. But then I got that worked on and talked to a physio friend of mine. Since it only happens after I exercise/snowboard, and was a bit non-specific kneecap area pain, she wondered if it wasn't weakness of the glutes and meds. Hurts when I get out of bed, go up stairs, etc. She gave me some Pilates-like exercises to strengthen the bum and outer thigh, and it's been getting better. Can't say for you, though. These are the exercises I do.
