Ok I have a new frame, great, as I am wetting my pants with excitement. I have everything except a drivetrain and cash.

I am looking at Truvativ or a cheap FSA. With a bash guard. I would like to have a 1x9 setup. My BB size is 73mm and I am told I need a 51 mm chainline. I have seen a Truvativ but it specified it has a 50mm chainline possibility.

Could I use such a thing, without hassle?

Yes, 1mm in chainline makes little difference

Depends on how the chainline is measured...Shimano and Truvativ measure slightly different. Shimano to the inside of the chainring, Truvativ to the middle. So a Shimano crankset 50mm chainline is the same as a Truvativ 51mm chainline.
