I'm set to order some wheels from BWW (XT/717) but have one question--which DT comps to get? I ride XC: some jumps, rockgardens, etc., but nothing major.

I weigh 160. Current wheelset, according to bikepedia.com, is built with 15ga straight spokes, and I've never had a problem with them apart from going out of true a bit here and there.

Seems like the weight difference will be about 70g total. Can I get away with the skinny DT comps?

With 717 rims, the 15/16/15 should be fine at your weight. If you're doing some jumps and bombing rockgardens, you might want to consider stronger rims, though.

its 70 grams.. nearly nothing. the 14/15 butted spokes will be stronger.

edit.. your current wheels are built with 1.8mm straight gauge spokes? thats a weird size.
