After almost a year using the carbons my front brake started to feel really soft/mushy. When I push the lever it stops as the pads contact the rotor, but then the lever becomes soft, the brake looses all it's power and even I if press the lever all the way to the handlebar it does not brake at all.

I though air in the system, so I had the brake re-bled at the LBS. They tried it twice, but it is still the same. They weren't able to identify the problem, but they didn't take the lever apart ..

Any idea what the problem is?

Either a leak or bypass. Inspect around the lines and pistons for wetness. If none are apparent, you may need a master cylinder rebuild. I had the same problem with my old Hayes Mags.
