Nice Polished Cranks
Damn, looks like Jeff's got some time to polish up some XTR cranks. I just put a high polish on a set of Ultegra's for my fixie. Way higher polish than the silver ano they come in, I'm talking mirror finish, looks hot! Looks like polished parts is coming back around.

that is insanely beautiful. did it show up in your email because it is your bike?!
the cable routing/use of straight jackets is super innovative. the other really cool thing that jumps out- with all the bling this bike posesses, Avid BB-7s were still chosen for stopping duties! can't beat 'em.

Nope, not mine unfortunately. I do have a deposit in with Jeff right now. I am in "line" so to speak. I have riden with Jeff twice. Both times on his personal bikes. The seat tube seems to be welded to the forward face of the EBB, to give some extra tire clearance. Although the bike has quite a bit of saddle setback, it's not as extreme as it looks to be when I put the ruler to the screen.
Also, look, that's about 60mm of fork offset. Gotta love builders that dare to differ.
That bike is awesome. If you can afford one, you better put your name on the list.

He'll probably just be jealous looking at it, he's just talking about bikes others came up with, not contributing to bike design anymore, at least that I know of.

Jeff doesn't use cartridge bearing headsets (ala Chris King). He uses an older style cup and ball system (he uses 2 top headsets for his custom fork). This is because the loads caused by the fork are mainly vertical with a little side loading. A cartridge bearing is not ideal for loads which are perpandicular to the rotation of the bearings. I hope that I got that right... I can't remember what brand he uses though, sorry.jh_on_the_cape said:

Word on the street is that those rims are a prototype WTB disc specific 29er rim. Word is they weigh in around 630. I dig the wide profile rim, but at 630grams is that rim going to be liked by everyone wanting lighter rims. Is it wider and lighter everyone is looking for, or just wider.
In other news, I got out on my Dos Niner this weekend with Jeff's bars on it. I bought em' back in the fall, but was unable to ride them do to a serious broken left arm(complete fracture of both forearm bones). The Dos feels awesome with those bars on it. After being on rigid bikes all winter it is refreshing to hop on something with suspension.

Along with building a fat tire I will also get one of these when I win the lotto. That is one of the best looking bikes I have seen.

Holy crap that thing is nice! I cant imagine the cost. The only thing I dont like about that bike are the avid mechanicals.

- Awesome power and modulation
- Trailside repairable
The fact that he specs avid mech when price is obviously no object says a lot about the quality of the brake I think. It also shows that he picks components for a reason not just bling value.

I talked to him last year and he said it would be a year wait. Just think I would be getting the frame about now. I don't want to keep bothering him, but I don't have enough cash or patience to wait a year for a new frame. If I could get one in a couple of months I would possibly order one.motoman711 said:

Well, my experience with the avid mechanicals has sucked. I have heard many stories of similar experiences to mine. At the price I guess I cant complain.
