to hack my new handlebar. I tested the pipe cutter on an old Titec Hellbent XC that got bent after falling off the bike rack and onto the freeway. I tried to cut that old bar for about 10 minutes and couldn't quite cut it.

So, I thought I'd just use it to mark my new handlebar and then use a hacksaw. Little did I know that the new Titec Hellbent XC got cut like paper. Took no time at all to hack off about half an inch total.

Makes me wonder what the old Hellbent was made of and why the new version is so thin compared to the old one.

i don't want to sounds like an a$$hole here, just making sure. did you use the pipe cutter properly, i.e. tighten it every few rotations?

Yes I did tighten it every few rotations

that's how I cut the new one handlebar...

It's just that the old Titec was a lot thicker than the new one and that pipe cutter couldn't hack through. It's also a small pipe cutter. Just big enough to hack handlebars sized pipes.
