Curious if anyone has seen a similar part failure on their Niner. On my last mellow night ride, noticed the bike making a creaking sound near my shock. Thought it was my pivot bearings/bolts that need to be tightened.

Check out the bolts with my torque wrench, perfect. Start pushing, pulling on the rear triangle and noticed my shock was moving.

At closer inspection, see this. That doesnt look good.


Take out the bolt, it just slid right out. Snapped....wow


Lets see the rest of the damage. The metal spacer/washer is just destroyed. The plastic guides of the shock cracked. And the rest of the bolt is stuck inside the upper link.


Bike is a 2019 model and has 300 miles on it. Never crashed, jumped or abused.

Would this fall under warranty?

If not, can you buy replacement parts? I dont see any of the failed parts on Niner's site

I would have a serious problem if Niner didn’t warranty the part. Seems to me they could FedEx you the bolt. Sounds to me like a no brainer. If it we me I’d call Niner CS directly. Cut out the middle man of the shop. I’d actually ask them to overnight so I could get back to riding my new bike.

Let us know what happens.

Emailed Niner direct if I can purchase the bolt - No reply yet

Also will need new Fox shock mounting hardware. Anyone know what is the Frame Mount Width and Bolt Mount Diameter and Bolt Length?

Never received email reply from Niner. Whatever.

Bike was dropped off last week to my LBS and they received new bolts (upper and lower shock bolts) from Niner. Nothing out of my pocket for parts, just cover labor by LBS.

Will be riding again by tomorrow.

Thanks OttaCee. I just got off the phone with Niner. Apparently they do not have anyone working the warranty position.

I actually had the same thing happen to me in February this year. The top shock bolt on my 2018 1-Star Niner Jet 9 (aluminium frame) sheered right off. I had my shock in the middle position a landed kind of awkwardly from a 2-3ft drop to flat. I just assumed it was my bad for not opening up the shock all the way. Either way, I took it to a LBS and they said they found a bolt that fit perfectly. If memory serves it was meant for an Ibis. Hopefully this is not a recurring issue with Jet 9s
